The Institute of Agricultural Science (ICA, for its acronym in Spanish) of the Autonomus University of Baja california (UABC for its acronym in Spanish), is located in Ejido Nuevo León, where it offers the students the necessary conditions to develop a scientific and technological education in agricultural field, with a critical, social and ethical awareness. It has the necessary infrastructure to  conduct the substantive functions of the UABC such as: teaching, research, and dissemination of culture. ICA offers personalized attention through a tutoring, educational and psychological orientation program, a library, a scholarship program, a student mobility and professors exchange program, areas of agricultural and livestock production, specialized laboratories and experimental fields.

Mission

The mission of the Institute of Agricultural Science is to educate professionals and researchers in the agricultural area, who can be competent in the regional, national, international, and cross-border spheres. Innovative, enterprising, and critical experts with a comprehensive vision, capable of transforming their environment with social responsibility, respecting the environment with a strong ethical commitment; professionals with the capacity of creating, applying, disseminating, and transferring knowledge to contribute to sustainable agricultural development, the elevation of science, technology, and the improvement of the welfare level of Baja California’s society and the country.

In 2030, the Institute of Agricultural Sciences is an academic institution recognized for its national and international leadership in the training of human resources and the generation of scientific knowledge in the agricultural area. An institute beheld for having accredited educational programs, consolidated academic bodies, laboratories and certified services, extension programs and links with the public and private sectors,  with the capacity of generating  resources, technological innovation, and registration of intellectual property. Its graduates function  as agents of social change, promoting sustainable and competitive agricultural production in a globalized environment, entrepreneurial and committed to the generation, transfer and application of new technologies, with honesty, ethics, social responsibility and respect for the environment.
